The Elements of Reconciliation

For all you BIO nerds, what is your favorite group of elements? Is it H2O, CO2 etc.?

Focus on – ROMANS 5:1-11

The combo of elements from God’s periodic table that surpasses all is this…

1 Corinthians 13:13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Romans 5:1–5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

And not only that but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Do you see the creation that occurs when you combine faith and hope?

Romans 5:2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

 – faith into this grace in which we now stand/hope of the glory of God

And these two create a formula in themselves. Amid these two combinings, we think something is going wrong because an element of suffering is developing. But we don’t realize is this suffering element is necessary to continue the outcome of the combination itself.

Romans 5:4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

 – perseverance (to persist in anything undertaken; maintain a purpose), Character (features and traits that form the individual nature); and character, hope (a feeling of optimism or a desire that something will happen)

And then we realize this process that comes from combining these two elements is so vital; necessary; perseverance developing character that arouses hope.

And then hope surprises us in this process. Hope does not want to let this whole combination process down. Hope brings another element into the mix.

Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

  – hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

Finally, we see that when all three elements are combined and working together, something powerful happens! Because without all three elements together, they are powerless alone!

God demonstrates the power of combining all three elements together

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

   – But God demonstrates His own love in this: while we still sinners Christ died for us

You see when these elements stand alone they are just what they stand for, faith is faith, hope is hope, and love is love. All have their purpose. But together they create a whole new world, a ‘world of reconciliation’.

Reconciliation is this…

To re-establish a relationship; to settle differences, to be compatible with each other, to bring back into harmony

God was the first to demonstrate the reaction of combining all three elements. This combination was so powerful that God gave His best to define and illustrate it. He gave His one and only Son.

And now God wants us to give our best. But we need to have all three elements linked together and put into action. Maybe the best starting point is focusing on what God has been focusing on since the beginning, illustrating a

Ministry of Reconciliation’. – 2 Corinthians 5:17-6:2

Romans 5:11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

If we are in harmony with our God, through J.C., then the result will BURST OUT and OVERFLOW on people around us. Because we want everyone to be reconciled to God, our Creator!

2 Corinthians 6:1 As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.

Don’t let the Grace you have from God become ‘in vain’ (fruitless, worthless). Do you dare to combine these three elements? Because the reaction when sparked is like a wildfire, it can’t be stopped!

2 Corinthians 6:2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
